Dean has penned a modern classic on an original hymn tune, CHARIS, with his setting here for SATB choir, keyboard, guitar, trumpets, and assembly. Dealing with the love of God for us through themes of journey and thanksgiving, each of the four verses ends with the phrase "Deo gratias, Deo gratias, thanks be to God most high." The music has a majestic, striding quality and the touches of chromaticism in the accompaniment enrich the otherwise diatonic contour of the melody.
