Awake, My Soul, Awake

Written using AAB form, the six verses of this Advent hymn tell of the coming of Christ as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies, closing with a rousing Doxology. The use of modality throughout the work musically reflects these ancient themes but remains accessible to choir and assembly alike. It is scored for SATB chorus with accompaniment for keyboard, guitar, and solo instrument in C. A simpler hymn version is also included in the octavo.
