A minimum quantity of 5 is required
Written especially for Good Friday to commemorate Christ's suffering and death on the Cross, this poignant choral setting of Alan Hommerding's poetic English translation of the German hymn Ruht wohl, ihr heiligen Gebeine could also follow the Passion Gospel on Palm Sunday. This choral anthem, approximately three and a half minutes in duration, is scored for SATB choir with descant and features an extended introduction for organ and oboe and a slightly shorter interlude between the verses. Though primarily intended to by accompanied by keyboard (organ), guitar chords are included, and an oboe part, sweet and fluid, can be used to add a deeper pathos. A simpler hymn version for use with assembly is also included in this octavo. A moderately skilled choir will shine with this moving, expertly crafted piece.
