Calling Me Home

Inspired by the composer's love of folk songs, spirituals, blues, and early American hymnody, and textually based on Psalm 23, this song for SATB choir, keyboard, and violin was written to be sung during funeral liturgies, but also works well as a Communion song. While the verses are to be sung by a cantor, the rhythmic and melodic shape of the refrain is straightforward enough for any assembly.
