Feeley’s original musical setting of George Herbert’s well-known poem, “The Call,” is appropriate for use throughout the year, most fittingly during Eastertide, and, because of the “feast” reference in the second verse, would also be a suitable Communion hymn. Creatively scored for SATB choir, descant, organ, and cello, this octavo offers first a concertato version—featuring a gradual increase in textural complexity over its three verses, themselves separated by short instrumental interludes—and a simpler, strophic hymn version for use when greater assembly participation is desired.
