“The greatest moment of our lives is encountering Jesus Christ” is the memorable refrain of this assembly song. Its four verses enhance this message with topics of Christian life, conversion, discipleship, Eucharist, and Resurrection. Set in a flowing, uncomplicated 4/4, the verses lead smoothly to the refrain, which itself has a leisurely turnaround, giving the whole piece a feeling of reflective expansiveness. Though it could be effectively sung in unison, SATB choral parts (plus descant on the refrain) and the included oboe, violin, and cello parts can all be layered with the piano and guitar accompaniments to enrich the texture.
