God Be in My Head

Using a well-known text from the Sarum Primer, this is a short but striking setting for treble choir. It features a diatonic two-part vocal texture that is pitted against planing parallel major thirds in the organ. The pungent, unsettling dissonances that arise between the voices and the whole-tone quality of the accompaniment ultimately dissipate, resolving to a stable G major chord at the end of the piece.
