Since the fourth century, eastern liturgies have contained the words Sancta sanctis, "holy things for holy people," as the sacrament is shown to the people immediately before Communion. Translated as "The gifts of God for the people of God," it is also found in the Book of Common Prayer of the Episcopal Church in the United States of America. This processional chant for Communion is set for SATB choir, descant, keyboard and guitar.
