The symbol of the "temple" is many-layered: Jesus the temple, Mary's womb, the temple, and in Christ, the church is being built into a temple. The rite for dedicating a church recommends this text for that moment in the celebration when the altar and walls of the church are anointed with holy oil. Because the verses speak of longing for the courts of God, going to Zion, the joy of dwelling in God's house, the song can be used more generally throughout the liturgical year as the responsorial Psalm, Gathering, Preparation, Communion song. It is set for SATB choir, keyboard and guitar. It also includes guitar chord fingering charts for some of the chords.
