I Rejoiced

Based on Psalm 122, a psalm of pilgrimage in which the psalmist recalls his joy at the invitation to the temple in Jerusalem, this assembly song is appropriate for Christ the King, Advent, and the dedication of a Church. Set for SATB chorus, keyboard, and guitar, the SATB refrain is rhythmically and harmonically straightforward, while the unison verses take a surprising turn to the minor subdominant.
