This meditative ostinato setting of the Kyrie in the style of Taizé may be used in a variety of ways, accompanied or a cappella. The litany is scored for SATB choir, cantor, keyboard, guitar, and solo instrument. In addition to a full set of verses based on the 11th century Sarum Missal, the composer has included his own suggested intentions for use of the refrain with the Universal Prayer (Prayer of the Faithful). Congregations will find this piece especially effective for the season of Lent and for the Rite of Penance (Reconciliation).
