A contemporary setting inspired by traditional plainchant litanies, this song is appropriate for processions during the Easter Triduum, Pentecost, or confirmations. With initial lyric emphasis on the gifts of the Holy Spirit (among other spiritual benefits), all eleven verses have the assembly response "renew the face of the earth." The cantor's supplication and assembly response can both be augmented by SAB choral parts as well as handbells as the piece progresses.
