Litany of the Spirit

Hillebrand has adapted Becker's well-known "Litany of the Saints" as a vehicle for both catechesis and reflective prayer. After the cantor invokes the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit, the assembly responds "fill our hearts." This litany is appropriate during the season of Easter (especially Pentecost), confirmations, and rites of religious profession. Three-part verse harmony, SATB refrain harmony, and a new piano accompaniment have been added to Becker's original setting. A newly composed violin part complements the original solo instrument parts.
