Lord, Come and Save Us

Although it begins calmly and tranquilly, this song, whose lyrics are based on Psalm 80, builds over its three verses from a simply accompanied two-part setting to a full SATB texture with florid accompaniment for the third verse and final refrain. Two accompaniments are provided: piano (more complex) and organ (simpler). As it deals with topics of hope, petition/prayer, conversion, light, and mercy, this title is appropriate for liturgies during Advent and the Triduum, and for morning prayer.
