Not by Bread Alone

The refrain of this setting is based on the Communion antiphon for the first Sunday of Lent. It is easy to learn and sing from memory while processing to receive the Eucharist. With verses rooted in Scripture (Matthew 4:1-11 and Psalm 34:8), this beautiful assembly song deals not only with the theme of God's love for us through Jesus's sacrifice, but also healing, God's Word, and our own longing for God; it would be appropriate to use on Ash Wednesday and throughout Lent.
