O Come, O Come Emmanuel

The text of this anthem is based on one of the seven "O" Antiphons. These are sung at Evening Prayer (Vespers) and as the Gospel acclamations in the Lectionary between December 17 and December 23. This anthem reflects the enthusiasm and joy at the coming of Jesus, and speak of the world's joy at this wonderful and mysterious event. Scored for SA choir and organ, the melodic rhythm is lively, and dynamics carefully structured.
