“For Ever I Will Sing” is meant to sound exceedingly joyful, as evidenced by its colorful chromaticism and rhythmic verve. This setting can be sung as a responsorial psalm or as a song of praise. When used as a song, music directors are welcome to assign sections and parts to suit their choir. Scored for two-part choir, descant, keyboard, guitar, cello, and flute, this title has several liturgical uses: although it is the prescribed responsorial psalm for the Fourth Sunday of Advent, it can also be sung as the psalm for Masses of Thanksgiving; it is also a popular psalm selection for weddings.
