This is a retelling of Luke's account of Jesus' birth and the signs and wonders that accompanied it. Through-composed for SATB choir with descant, keyboard and oboe, each verse is texturally different, culminating in the fifth verse with the fullest use of all forces. This present-day carol is nevertheless timeless in its message and beauty of expression.
