Tom Booth’s text, based on both the traditional Orthodox Jesus Prayer and the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, is treated here in a ballad-like contemporary style. This simple prayer for God’s mercy is correspondingly set simply: for two-part voices with keyboard and guitar accompaniment. In this edition, a new Spanish translation has been added, increasing the song’s appeal and reach. Calming and devotional, the song is appropriate for Lent, Reconciliation services, and times of personal prayer.
