The Lord Is My Light and My Salvation (Psalm 27)

Metrically cast in 9/8 and employing some bluesy harmonies throughout, this verbatim setting of Psalm 27 has the musical character of a jazz or gospel waltz. The SATB choir only joins in on the refrain, supporting assembly participation, while each verse_x0014_ for cantor alone_x0014_ gets its own unique musical setting to accommodate the varying lengths of each verse's text. This compelling setting is accompanied by keyboard and guitar.
