Based on the familiar text of Ecclesiastes 3, the melody of this poignant, wistful tune is flexibly arranged to showcase one or multiple vocalists, a section, or some combination thereof, with the SAB choir parts primarily serving as accompaniment (that is, harmony) for the melody. Along with standard accompaniments for piano and guitar, a part for a solo instrument in C is also included for additional instrumental color.
