Sweetly flowing, heartfelt, and tender, these three new a cappella SATB settings of traditional Latin prayers to the Sacred Heart will enrich liturgies for the Feast of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, as well as other devotional occasions. Included are O Cor Jesu, Cor Dulce, and Jesu Mitis, each carefully crafted for accessibility by a wide range of choirs. The setting of Jesu Mitis, in particular, employs expressive chromatic harmonies that reverently evoke the bittersweetness of Christ’s long-suffering steadfastness.
