Pepper Choplin’s We Pray is an appealing and accessible anthem that invites both choir and congregation into a spirit of reflection and prayer. With tuneful vocal writing, flowing choral parts, and a soaring solo line above the choir, the piece is immediately engaging and rewarding to sing. Subtle seventh chords and jazz-inspired harmonies give the music a fresh contemporary warmth while remaining easy to teach and prepare. We Pray is a compelling choice for worship, prayer services, and moments of reflection.
